Living in Encuentro

Playa Encuentro is a beach on the north coast about 3 miles (5 km) west of Cabarete Bay, between Cabarete and Sosúa. It is known as one of the most consistent surf beaches in the region, with waves year-round.

Several named reef breaks suit different levels, including Bobo's Point, La Izquierda (The Left), La Derecha (the main peak) and Coco Pipe, plus a whitewater area for beginners. Larger north Atlantic swells arrive from November to March, while the summer months bring smaller waves suited to learners.

The beach is lined with palms and has surf schools, surf lodges and a small beach bar and restaurant. Residential communities such as Perla Marina are directly next to it.
